School Mission

The mission of West Vernon Avenue Elementary School is to develop a professional learning environment where students, parents, and teachers collaborate to achieve high academic expectations in a safe, positive, and trusting learning community.

WELCOME TO 2016-2017 SCHOOL YEAR!

Dear Parents, Students and Staff, welcome to 2016-17 new school year!

I am delighted to start my third year as the principal at West Vernon Elementary School, and I look forward to working with you throughout the year to ensure the best possible education for every child.  Our collective goal and my personal goal is to give each student a strong foundation in the skills they will need to be college and career ready, and you are a crucial component and partner in making this happen. These are a few ways in which you can help and contribute to our success this school year:

  1. Set a goal of 96% or better attendance/0 tardies
  2. Collaborate with discipline strategies and apply at home/Zero suspensions
  3. Frequently engage on a dialogue with teacher on academic growth
  4. Become a parent volunteer when available
  5. Let your child read daily
  6. Celebrate academic successes

Again, thank you for your support and commitment.

Warmest Regards,

Dr. Frances E. Valadez
